  My type of place all the way. Casual and focusing on the food. I think this was probably one of the freshest sushi and fish quality I have had in a Japanese spot.
  
  The big test was the handroll. The seaweed was good quality. Easy to bite through. The fish they use in rolls and sushi is so good.
  
  Will go back for sure.

  Food: excellent. Especially ordering a la cart. Very satisfied. Pretty straight forward presentation which I like. No weird combo just for novelty.
  
  Service: good. Nothing fancy but good.
  
  Spot: nothing special but comfy and good for intimate small groups.

  I'm a big fan of Omakase and appreciate that this place has a lower price point than most. We had great fish, but I would say there are two things that felt below par for a $80+ meal: (1) we received similar cuts of fish. I believe we were served mackerel and yellow tail twice (one sushi, one nigiri). The whole point of Omakase was to try different things! (2) I didn't love receiving 6 items at once. It's nice to take your time with Omakase, but having 6 items on your plate at once feels very rushed.
  
  Overall, great neighborhood spot and I'll probably be back! But it's not a 4 or 5 star experience.

  Yes, yes and yes. This is where I want to spend my Friday night...and Saturday night..ok every night. Great sushi, great service, friendly sushi chefs. All the fish was fresh and delicious. All presented with beautiful topping to enhance the already great quality fish. They have 2 options for Omakase a 9 piece with a hand roll for $52 and one for $92, 12 piece option that serves even higher quality fish. Both were excellent. We finished with green tea ice cream for dessert. One small scoop per order, it was a tease because it was so good, but some things are better in moderation (dessert).

  A while back, a friend's birthday dinner brought me here for the first time. We did a la carte and ended up demolishing their uni (sea urchin) inventory!! I've been meaning to go back since and I'm glad that I did.
  
  We arrived late noon for lunch and opted for omakase. We sat at the chef's counter and enjoyed a light conversation while watching each piece of delicacy being prepared professionally right in front of us. I've been to a couple places for omakase and this one is more traditional in a no-frills sense in comparison. After our last course was presented in the form of a hand roll, my friend and I each added a piece - he fancied squid and I hearted uni.
  
  It's a chill and unpretentious spot for great omakase at a modest price. The place itself is a lot more spacious than its Manhattan counterparts with rather minimalistic and zen decor.
  
  I'll be back next time I'm in Brooklyn.
